Pour water onto a small plate. On a separate small plate, mix together the cinnamon and brown sugar. Dip the rim of the glass in the water to moisten and swirl it in the cinnamon and sugar.
In a cocktail shaker, add the apple cider, bourbon and a handful of ice. – Put on the top and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
Fill the cinnamon and sugar-rimmed glass with a handful of ice and strain in the chilled apple cider and bourbon.
For that bubbly, gingered topping, add a splash of chilled ginger ale on top. Give the mixture a gentle stir to combine.
Twist a large piece of fresh orange peel over the drink and drop the orange twist into the drink. This adds a touch of orange zest.
