HOW TO MAKE SOFT PRETZELS

Making homemade soft pretzels is even easier than you'd think, and you'll love that crisp brown crust with the soft, pillowy interior. Also includes a recipe for a cheese dip!

Soft Pretzel Ingredients

Beer Water Yeast Sugar Salt Flour Butter Baking soda Egg yolk Pretzel salt or kosher salt

Heat water and beer until 100-110 degrees. Pour into a bowl with sugar and salt. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit until foamy.

Add flour and melted butter. Knead to make a smooth and elastic dough. You can use a stand mixer or knead by hand. Cover and allow to rise.

Divide the dough into eight even pieces. Roll each dough ball into a long rope and then shape the rope to form a pretzel shape.

Bring water and baking soda to a boil. Drop each pretzel into the baking soda solution and boil for 30 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon or spatula.

Whisk together the egg yolk with water. Brush onto each pretzel. Sprinkle with salt. Bake in the oven until brown. Brush with melted butter.
