Mix together ricotta, eggs, Parmesan, basil and nutmeg. Season with salt and pepper and set aside. This is our cheese filling.
1
Before layering the lasagna, spread tomato sauce on the bottom of the baking dish. This keeps the noodles from both sticking and drying out.
2
Place a layer of prepared lasagna noodles on the bottom of the baking dish so that it's completely covered.
3
On top of the lasagna noodle, spread half the ricotta and sprinkle grated mozzarella over the ricotta.
4
Spread a layer of the crumbled meatballs on top of the cheese filling. Top the meatballs with a layer of tomato sauce.
5
Repeat the layers one more time. Finish with more pasta, meatballs, tomato sauce and mozzarella. Cover with foil and bake. Remove the foil in the last 15 minutes of baking.
