Why You’ll Love This Recipe
Tastes like a raspberry truffle: Have you ever had a raspberry truffle from Godiva? The first sip instantly reminded me of those indulgent truffles. This is the best kind of liquid dessert.
Makes a delicious signature cocktail: Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day, Easter or Mother’s Day, this chocolate-raspberry martini belongs on your cocktail menu. It’s also great for bachelorette parties and bridal showers. You have so many occasions to whip up this drink.
Simple to mix with a batching option: This martini doesn’t call for professional-level bartending skills, and to make it perfect for parties, I included a pitcher option for you.

Ingredients
Raspberry vodka: To amp up the raspberry flavor, I like to use an infused vodka. If it’s available in your area, I highly recommend Wild Roots. As you can tell by the color, this distillery infuses its vodka with real raspberries rather than extract for a superior fruit flavor.
Chocolate liqueur: This adds rich, deep chocolate flavor as well as a creamy texture. You can often find it in milk chocolate, dark chocolate and white chocolate varieties. I used the milk chocolate, but any of the three would work. It comes down to your taste preference.
White crème de cacao: If you’ve never used this product, it’s a chocolate-bean flavored liqueur, and it comes in two varieties, dark and white. Don’t confuse it with chocolate liqueur, which is sweeter and more syrupy. You can typically find this near the schnapps.
Chambord: Raspberry lovers will adore this one. It’s a raspberry liqueur and gives us that perfect dose of berry flavor.
Heavy cream: You’ll love the extra touch of decadence this adds to your chocolate-raspberry martini. After all, it’s a dessert drink.
Cocoa bitters: With all the sweet liqueurs, this adds a nice balance to the mix.
Chocolate sauce and grated chocolate: These are optional, but we use them to make a chocolate rim. Again, we’re going for the most luscious martini.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: We begin by making that chocolate rim. For this step, we first swirl the rim of the glass in chocolate syrup and then dip it in the grated chocolate (photo 1).
Step 2: Now let’s grab our cocktail shaker and add the raspberry vodka, chocolate liqueur, white crème de cacao, chambord, heavy cream and cocoa bitters with a handful of ice (photo 2).
Step 3: We put the cap back on top and vigorously shake the mixture (photo 3). About 30 seconds does the trick. With the heavy cream, I like to give it a little extra shaking time to ensure it incorporates nicely.
Step 4: From here, we strain the drink into a chilled martini glass like so (photo 4).
Step 5: For an extra fancy touch, we garnish with a few fresh raspberries (photo 5).
Now take a sip and enjoy that burst of rich chocolate and fresh raspberry flavor.
How to Make a Large-Batch Pitcher
Plan on serving this for a party? Here’s how you can batch it for easy entertaining.
- Stir together the raspberry vodka, chocolate liqueur, white crème de cacao, Chambord and heavy cream in a pitcher.
- Keep it in the refrigerator covered for up to two days.
- When it’s serving time, pour 5 ounces per drink into a cocktail shaker with ice and the cocoa bitters and shake as directed. A typical cocktail shaker can handle two drinks at once.
There you have it! Your chocolate-raspberry martini is ready in no time. The exact proportions are in the recipe card.
Recipe FAQs
Simply run a chocolate bar along a box grater, and you’re left with perfectly grated chocolate. Here, I used the big holes on the box, but for a finer texture, you can use the small holes.
In addition to grated chocolate, you can use cocoa powder or chocolate sprinkles. If you plan on serving this for Valentine’s Day or Easter, some festive sprinkles would work in place of the chocolate ones.
A classically defined martini includes vermouth, but the martini category has expanded in modern times. These days, if a cocktail is served up and in a martini glass, it’s often called a martini, even though it may not fit the old definition. If you’re a stickler for tradition, you’re welcome to call it something else.
Variations and Substitutions
Want to put your own stamp on the drink? Here are a few ways to make the martini unique to you.
- Use regular vodka instead of raspberry-infused vodka. Vanilla vodka is another nice option.
- Swap heavy cream for half and half for a slightly lighter finish.
- Skip the bitters if you don’t have them on hand — I like the balance they add, but you can certainly make one tasty chocolate-raspberry martini without them.
- Make a white chocolate-raspberry martini by substituting the milk chocolate liqueur for white chocolate liqueur.
Expert Tips
Shake properly: Hold the cocktail shaker at an angle and shake with both hands. This ensures you get enough force for a vigorous shake.
Serve in a chilled cocktail glass: Since we serve this martini up with no ice, this helps keep our drink nice and cold. To chill the martini glasses, simply place them in the freezer 15-30 minutes before mixing. If you forget, fill the glass with ice water as you prepare the drink, stir the ice water for 30 seconds before straining and dump the contents. You’re left with a chilled glass.
Drink slowly: This cocktail may taste like dessert that goes down oh-so smoothly, but it has an adult kick.
Shake the heavy cream well before mixing: Heavy cream always need a good shake before using, even if it's going into a shaken drink.
Perfect Pairing
With this dessert martini, we clearly need a chocolatey treat on the side. My fudgy stout brownies or triple chocolate tiramisu are absolute perfection here.
Or maybe you’d like to play up that raspberry flavor. In that case, give these mini raspberry mojito pies or raspberry shortbread cookies a try.
No matter what occasion you’re celebrating, this chocolate-raspberry martini is your ultimate sweet sipper. You’ll love that chocolatey goodness.
Cheers!
